Win 7 install in Wine having issues.

Post by eipapp »

I tried to install Win 7 Home Premium in Wine but got the following message:

"Windows setup cannot find a location to save temporary installation files. To install windows make sure that a partition on your boot disk has at least 686 megabytes (MB) of free space." error code 0x8007049

My current configuration is as follows:

sda1 Fat32 /boot/efi Size 512 Mib Used 4.36Mib Unused 507.64Mib
sda 2 Ext4 / Size 459.68 Gib Used 14.34Gib Unused 445.34Gib
sda 3 linux-swap Size 5.58Gib Used 383.71Mib Unused 5.20Gib
Unallocated Size 1.02Mib

What can I do to resolve this issue?
Any and all help appreciated.
(I'm new to this Wine thing so excuse the learning curve)

Thanks,
Bruce

Wine is not a VM: you cannot install Windows in it. Wine is for running Windows programs without Windows.

If you want to install Windows in a VM, try VirtualBox or VMPlayer.
