eM Client and WiINE

Post by gordon99 »

I wish to install eM Client in Ubuntu 14.04. I have found this to be a very useful email client in Windows but now wish to use it in Ubuntu.
The installation guidance says I should install the following additional packages using winetricks: dotnet20; ie7; gdiplus. Also, 'urlmon' DLL mapping must be set to "native" in WineCFG.
I regret I don't have a clue how to go about doing the above and would be grateful for some assistance. Do these additional package installations and the setting of 'urlmon' to "native" have to be done BEFORE installing eM Client? How do I go about it.
I went into Winetricks but found no help there. WineCFG is foreign to me.
Many thanks.

The test report that used those overrides is pretty old. I recommend trying it without any overrides first, and only installing them if something doesn't work.

If you do need to install them, use winetricks. http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks

When I tried to install eM Client an application error appeared. The error report was very long. I tried to copy and paste it here but was unsuccessful.
