i586 wine versions for opensuse once had a 32 bit download that accompanied the i586 wine version. It no longer does. I haven`t been able to get wine running my apps since then. Do i need to start using the 32 bit listed in x86_64? I`m lost please help.

I`m stuck with older wine versions until I fiqure this out.

That's a packaging issue; you need to report that to openSUSE.

In opensuse 64 bit you can change in yast the wine architecture, so choose the 32 bit version (the i586 package) and remove wine-32bit package.
It will pull a certain number of 32bit libraries but that's not a problem; since i've began to install wine on my opensuse 64bit this way almost all program i've tried to run work flawlessly.
Obviously you will be able tu run only 32 bit windows executables.
Hope this helps.

Not likely, since it has nothing to do with the question that was asked. Te OP is using 32 bit openSUSE, and reported a missing i586 package.

dimesio, you're right.
Btw, the opensuse build service packages wine 32bit version for opensuse from 11.1 to 12.1. I've checked every i586 repository and in everyone there is wine 1.5.6
Here is the link.

jdmBlue, add the repository relative to your opensuse version under that link.
