Windows Media Player Security Upgrade

Post by kmand »

I'm running the Overdrive Media Console. When I try to load an audiobook it tells me that it can't acquire a license since my Windows Media Player security is at 2.3.0.0 and it needs to be upgraded to 2.4.0.1.

When I tell it to do the upgrade it fails with

Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error. This can occur when another program or operating system component encounters a problem but does not communicate the nature of the problem to the Player.

Any ideas?

That's a long-known bug, and there's no workaround. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17250
