I am unable to get audio from wine either from games or using the winecfg utility. All sounds in GNOME work perfectly in every application.
In the audio tab in winecfg, there is a HDMI option that I can select as output device, but selecting that and applying doesn't change the fact that I get no sound at all. I have no custom .asoundrc, simply selected my output device using the configuration dialog in GNOME. There, I have disabled the onboard audio (there are no speaker plugged into it).
What can I do to make the audio work. I tried searching, but the search functionality on this board seems to be broken (it says Loading... and hangs with a javascript error).

If your system is 64 bit, you may be missing needed 32 bit sound libraries.
Does winecfg show winealsa.drv as the selected driver? Post terminal output from the sound test in winecfg.
Also, if your Wine version is not the latest development release, upgrade.
