Nothing will happen (and nothing happened), winetricks is only available in the current directory, so it says command not found. How did you get winetricks? I've never used ./ in front of it, and it executes just fine for me. I've downloaded winetricks. winetricks is a bash script, so it can be pla...

"cmd.exe /c echo '%ProgramFiles%' returned empty string

hi. I'm trying to install a program using winetricks, but I'm using a separate wine install and WINEPREFIX, I run any command as such - WINEARCH="win32" WINE='/home/de/media_writeit!/FOSS/additional packages/Wine prefixes/Works with wine 1.3.32/wine-1.3.32' WINEPREFIX='/home/de/media_write...

Bundled internet explorer doesn't work.

Hi. I've wine installed on Gentoo x86_68. As we know, IE is preinstalled in winprefix, but in my case it doesn't run for both WINEARCH as x86 or x64. It says program error showing me a usual Windows error. Terminal output as such. I installed IE7 (32), it installed fine but it doesn't work at all......

Hi, Yes, if you download Wine package from here: http://wine.playonlinux.com/linux-i386/ all .pol except those who have an suffix between the version and .pol aren't patched. For example: PlayOnLinux-wine-1.3.0.pol => no patch, compiled from source of WineHQ website. PlayOnLinux-wine-1.3.1-ubi-drm....

Hi I'm PlayOnLinux and PlayOnMac author. Let me make some points clearer. We are aware that PlayOnLinux is not helpful for wine developers and things are going to change. @ doh123, If we write our own functions, it's because winetricks is unable to interact with PlayOnLinux/PlayOnMac GUI. I chatted...

Yup, I'm currently using pol on Debian... very useful app. Unfortunately POL is outdated too on Debian.

Yeah, I originally use gentoo (where you can compile from the trunk). I installed Debian for testing purposes.

Without Gentoo, that's the hardest thing to do (specially in debian, it asks for 32 bit jpeg libraries ... and many more stuff). Well yeah, Wine is a 32-bit app (if you intend to run 32-bit windows programs). And you need those libraries anyway. And if you having difficulties with your distro compi...

+ I have to update it manually every time.. it will bypass the package manager.

Playonlinux and Office 2007

I'm trying to install MS office 2007 standard trial using Playonlinux on Wine 1.3.8.

I need to install stuff like MSXML, .net 2 etc... but when I start installing them, a dialog pops up saying 'choose a prefix to patch'... and the list below is empty.

If I forward the dialog just closes.

No. Always start with a clean wineprefix, and only use winetricks to solve specific problems with specific apps.
Ok.

Ok, so it was a bad idea.

At least I can do installation of very basic tools like vb, .net etc....?

So is there a list of such applications? My object is to make things easy for the users. Maximum Windows programs should work.

Winetricks fails to install many programs.

Hi. I'm trying to make a windows environment to ensure most programs work. So I installed many things using wine tricks, however these are giving issues, but I think are important - directplay dotnet11 dotnet20 dotnet20sp2 dotnet30 dsound gfw msxml3 msxml4 msxml6 vc2005express vc2005expresssp1 vcrun...
